If you give birth at one of the locations of Bevalcentrum Amsterdam, you can register the birth online. Quick and easy — no need to go to the City Office. There are a number of conditions you must meet.
You can register the birth online from the moment of birth up to three days after the birth. You can do this at the birth centre or from home.
Conditions for online birth registration
You register the child within 3 days. Saturdays and Sundays also count
The 3-day period including Saturdays and Sundays applies to online registration
A physical registration at the municipal desk must be done within 3 working days
You are the parent(s) of the child
You are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP)
If you are married, in a registered partnership and the child has not been recognised by the partner, or if you are a single parent: the registering parent must have a DigiD
If the child has been recognised: you register jointly. The other parent or co-mother must also have a DigiD
Which documents do you need?
If your child was recognised before birth in a municipality other than Amsterdam, you must upload the deed of recognition
If a name choice was made before birth in a municipality other than Amsterdam, you must upload the name choice deed
If you are mothers who have a declaration from the Donor Data Foundation, you must also upload this declaration
Acknowleding
Are you not married or in a registered partnership and has your child not been recognised at the municipality?
Then only the mother’s details will appear on the birth certificate, and the child will automatically receive the mother’s surname.
Has your child already been born and do you still wish to recognise the child? Then, before registering the birth, go to one of the 8 City Offices in Amsterdam.

Do you meet the above conditions and do you have all the documents needed to upload?
Then you can now register the birth online. This can be done using a tablet, smartphone or computer.

After online birth registration
If the online birth registration is approved, the mother will receive an overview of the details and the citizen service number (BSN) of the child at the address where she is registered.
A civil registrar may call if there are any additional questions.
Birth registration at the City Office
Is it not possible to register the birth online? Or would you prefer to register in person? Then go to one of the 8 City Offices in Amsterdam. Do this as soon as possible, but in any case within 3 working days after the birth.
