A quiet form of support
During your labour, it is comforting to be able to set the atmosphere yourself. Light influences how we feel. Soft, warm light invites calm, while bright light can be stimulating. A peaceful space with dimmed lighting helps your body produce oxytocin — the hormone that stimulates contractions and supports relaxation and loving connection.
Candlelight, a salt lamp or small lights can work wonders. This creates an intimate, safe atmosphere in which it becomes easier to let go.
Lighting is more than practical: it is a quiet form of support — an invitation to turn inward and trust your own rhythm.
In our birthing suites, we have dimmable lighting, a salt lamp, electric candles and a starry sky ceiling.
“Most important is that you feel safe — in your own time, in your own way.”
